Every summer I organise Dolomites photography workshop with Muench Workshops, one of the most respected companies in the industry. This year I lead it with Marc Muench, the founder himself. We spent 8 days at some of the best locations in the area and it was an enjoyable trip with lots of fun and wonderful photography. Here is a short trip report with a selection of my favourite photos of the trip.
We were based at four different locations, Passo delle Erbe, Cinque Torri, Monte Lagazuoi and Fanes valley. Italian rifugios are not what the name suggests – a modest refuge for mountaineers. They are rather fine mountain hotels with excellent food and clean and comfortable rooms. True, there are mostly multiple bedrooms with shared facilities, but everything is clean and well maintained. Most importantly, the chosen ones offered us prime access to photography locations at the best light. Some of them even allowed us to shoot directly from the terrace!
Weather wasn’t great, first few days it was hot, humid and hazy. Then we had a couple of cloudy and rainy days and at the end clear skies without any clouds. Weather is what it is so we didn’t mind – one can always find something to photograph! The gallery below will testify for itself 🙂

When we hiked around Cinque Torri area we stopped at Rifugio Cinque Torri. Alberto approached us, asking where we’re from. His positive energy was emanating so strongly that I had to ask him for a photograph. He kindly agreed and here are the photos…
Conclusion
The images above were all taken during our 8-day workshop at the end of June. I am getting more and more selective of what I shoot on locations I have visited before. Instead of classic views, I am looking for different shots. Besides this, I like to dabble with closeups, and wildflower season is perfect for this. Hope you like the images!
