This past May, I led a photography tour to Bosnia and Herzegovina with my friend Jeremy Woodhouse. I was looking forward to this trip—Bosnia is one of my favourite countries. I often travel there for photography or family vacations. Tadej and I drove from Slovenia to Sarajevo to meet the group and kick off our Bosnia photography tour.
This is a short trip report with photos, a few teasers, and some good reasons why you should join us on our next adventure!
The Route We Took
We began our trip in Sarajevo, where we stayed for the first three days. One day, we ventured out to the Bjelašnica plateau to photograph mountain landscapes and traditional villages.
Next, we traveled to Travnik to visit the famous painted mosque, then continued on to Livno. There, we searched for wild horses in the nearby mountains. We had incredible encounters with these beautiful creatures—an unforgettable highlight for many on the trip.
Our next stop was Mostar and its iconic bridge. Beautiful and worth a visit, but we were eager to move on and immerse ourselves in the nature of Sutjeska National Park. In Sutjeska, we photographed stunning mountains on the border with Montenegro, pristine alpine lakes, a rich variety of wildflowers, and quirky socialist-era monuments.

We wrapped up our Bosnia photography tour back in Sarajevo with a farewell dinner in the historic Turkish quarter, Baščaršija.

Here is a collection of images I created during my tour. Although I have visited Bosnia numerous times before, I still enjoyed taking photographs and captured many great shots that I’m happy to share.
Ready to Experience Bosnia for Yourself?
Despite its small size, Bosnia and Herzegovina offers an incredible variety of photography opportunities. From portraits of friendly locals to dramatic mountain landscapes, wild horses, historic towns, quirky monuments, and charming old buildings—this tour covers it all. Add to that the warm hospitality, delicious food, and surprisingly good local wine, and you’ve got a truly memorable experience.
I’ll be running the Bosnia photography tour again in May 2027. Come along and see for yourself why this country is one of Europe’s most rewarding destinations for travel photography.
